MODIFIKASI MEDIA MS DAN PERLAKUAN PENAMBAHAN AIR KELAPA UNTUK MENUMBUHKAN EKSPLAN TANAMAN KENTANG

Abstract

Tujuan penelitianini adalah untuk mengetahui dan mengkaji pengaruh modifikasi media MS terhadap
pertumbuhan eksplan tanaman kentang dan mengetahui pengaruh penambahan air kelapa pada media MS
yang dimodifikasi terhadap pertumbuhan eksplan tanaman kentang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di
Laboratorium Agronomi dari bulan Mei 2002 sampai dengan februari 2003. Penelitian ini menggunakan
rancangan acak lengkap dengan tiga ulangan. Faktor yang dicoba terdiri atas dua faktor yaitu modofikasi
media MS dan penambahan air kelapa. Faktor pertama terdiri atas media ekstrak kentang, media MS, 1/2MS,
dan 1/4MS. Faktor kedua adalah penambahan air kelapa yang terdiri atas kontrol tanpa penambahan air
kelapa dan penambahan air kelapa 150 ml per liter media. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modifikasi
media MS sampai dengan ¼ MS masih cukup baik untuk menumbuhkan eksplan tanaman kentang dilihat
dari tinggi tanaman, jumlah akar dan jumlah tunas. Perlakuan penambahan air kelapa berpengaruh
meningkatkan panjang akar. Tidak terjadi pengaruh interaksi antara modifikasi media MS dan penambahan
air kelapa terhadap pertumbuhan eksplan tanaman kentang.

ABSTRACT
The aims of this research were to know the effect of modification of MS medium enriched with
potatoes extract on the growth and development of potato’s explants, to know the effect of coconut milk on
the growth and development of potato’s explants. This research was done in Agronomy Laboratory Faculty
of Agriculture UNSOED from May 2002 up to February 2003. This research was arranged with Randomized
Complete Design with three replications. The first factors was the modification of MS medium consisted of
potato extract medium, full strength of MS medium, ½ MS medium, ¼ MS medium. The second factor was
the coconut milk treatment consisted of control and 150 ml of coconut milk per liter medium. The result of
this research showed that the modification of MS medium up to ¼ MS was adequate for the growth of
potato’s explants according the high of plantlets, number of shoots, and number of roots. Coconut milk
increased the roots length. There was no interaction effect between MS medium and coconut milk treatment.
